Question by Angrygirl5: How do I find an anger management class in my area?
I have a bad temper. Do they have anger management classes or support groups? Or do I have to see a therapist? How do I go about finding an anger management class? Anyone know of any web sites?
Just so everyone know, I didn’t do anything illegal, I am not on probation, and I have not been ordered by a court to take a class. I just want to stop lashing out (verbally) at work and stop letting little things set me off.

I think that students should have to take an anger management class. They should be taught how to treat their friends, girlfriends, and other people around them who treat them well and learn the repercussions of damaging their relationships.
I have known so many people who get angry when they don’t get their way, who AREN’T EVEN AWARE of how selfish they’re being.

There are three basic steps in which anger should be handled: express, suppress and calm. It is the expressing part that gets some people into trouble. While anger should be expressed, some folks take it to another level with severe aggression as opposed to controlled assertion. That is where the situation spirals out of control and the suppression and calming part go right out the window. That is when the destruction begins.

13. Some nights I lie awake and think about bad things that happened to me throughout the day, things that upset me.

14. Waiting for people or waiting in line really gets on my nerves.

15. I often hate myself after I argue with someone.

16. There are times that I have been so angry that I could not remember what I did or what I said.

17. When someone does something or says something that upsets or angers me I don’t typically do or say anything about it at the time. However, I do spend a great deal of time later thinking of smart remarks, cutting responses and things that I should have and could have said.

18. I tend to want to get even with people who frustrate me or hurt me.

19. I have a very hard time forgiving someone who has wronged me.

20. There are times when I have been angry enough to kill.

21. I have a tendency to have very intense arguments with people who are the closest to me.

22. There are times that I get or have gotten so angry that I become physically violent by breaking things or hitting people.

23. I get depressed when things don’t go the way that I want them to.

24. When I am feeling hurt, frustrated or angry I use food, alcohol or drugs to comfort myself.

25. I am aware that I am a very angry person and that I need help in learning how to manage my anger because my temper has already caused problems with my relationships or work.

How to Manage your Anger

Give me some tips and advice on how I can control my temper and management anger. I get frustrated fairly easy lately and become angry. I don’t want to be like this and want to gain control.

I only drink on occassion and in small quantities and I do not do drugs…so let’s not bring this into an equation.

I often bite my nails when I get frustrated, too. :-P

Anger Management – 12 Types Of Anger Exposed

6. Overwhelming anger: As the name suggests, this form of anger exists when the emotion has really got to the root of a person. People experiencing overwhelming anger just cannot stand the situation they are in, and often find destructive means of relieving themselves by self hurt or by hurting other people physically.
7. Paranoid Anger: The paranoid form of anger is totally without just cause. People often work themselves into a frenzy imagining that someone were against them. This is called paranoid anger.
8. Passive Anger: This is a somewhat controlled form of anger where the person experiencing it does not directly show his anger. Instead he resorts to mocking the person who angers him, in a sarcastic manner.
9. Retaliatory Anger: This happens as a result of another person’s anger towards you. When you retaliate in self defense in an angry manner, this is called retaliatory anger.
10. Self Inflicted Anger: Here, a person who is angry with himself punishes himself by inflicting pain upon his own body. This is a common phenomenon with drug addicts.
11. Verbal Anger: Here, the only damage that is done is verbal abuse to other people. This could often be the beginning of other forms of anger.
12. Volatile Anger: This could range from mild anger to an absolute fury, and leaves just as suddenly as it comes. The intensity and the time depends on how well it is controlled by the individual.
